SURF CAMP: AUG 1-4, 58th Street, 8-12 noon

Welcome to Saint Gregorys Youth Group (SGYG) website. This is your place to get info on all youth group events, download forms, build a profile, and post a discussion. SGYG usually meets on the first three Sunday nights of the month from 7:15 to 9:00 pm. Every youth meeting is teen led and guaranteed to be fun and faith-filled. You live a REAL life and deserve REAL answers. The Catholic Church offers timeless truths for timely challenges. The fourth Sunday is a Servant Leadership Training Day. Every Tuesday night is Bro-Down for the Guys and ChikChat for the Girls from 7:45 to 9:00 pm. It's a time for growing deeper in your faith. We hope to see you soon. There's no dirty-dues, no gimmicks, just Jesus.

Hello saints and happy feast of Saint James,

Today is the feast day of St. James, the brother of St. John. Jesus told James and John that they would drink the cup that he would drink. That is - the cup of martyrdom. But we know that St. John did not receive the opportunity to die for his faith and be martyred in the bloody sense. Instead, he suffered a white martyrdom of living for Christ. This is the call that most of us will probably have. We are given the chance to be living martyrs for Christ!

Unless a grain of wheat falls to the ground and dies, it will not grow.

How will you die for Christ today? Lord, give me a chance to die for You today!

Here's the scoop:

AUGUST 1- 4th:

SURF CAMP - at 58th Street from 8:00 am to noon. Come out for some morning glory and learn the basics of surfing, bring a board if you have one, water, a snack, and your bible for a bible study after. Look for the brown tent. More details on the flier attached. RSVP appreciated, but not required.

AUGUST 26th - 28th:

A NEED TO LEAD - St. Gregorys is looking for teenagers to be youth ministry servant leaders. This is a nine month commitment for 10th, 11th, and 12th grade young men and women. This commitment includes planning and leading weekly youth meetings, building friendships, and planning monthly social events. A servant leaders lakehouse training trip is planned for August 26th to 28th. Are you interested? Know a friend who would be a great leader? SURF CAMP

Who? All teens from St. Gregorys, St. Matthews, Christ the King, and Holy Trinity Catholic Church and friends.

When? August 1^st – 4th (Mon-Thurs) From 8am-2:00 noon.

Where? 58^th street on the Virginia Beach Ocean Front. Look for the big brown tent. You need to provide your own transportation to and from the beach.

Why? To enjoy the surf and Christian fellowship, -a foretaste of heaven.

Cost? Free.

Surf Camp Agenda: We meet as a group at 8:00 am for brief morning prayer, then land instructions and review of surfing techniques and surfing safety. New Surfers (groms) are taught proper paddling style, catching waves, and standing up, as well as surf etiquette and ocean safety. We will conclude each day at 12:00 noon.

What to bring? Students should bring a towel, modest swimsuit, sun block, food/drink, surfboard/boogie board, and a completed SGYG Annual Permission form (if you have not already done so) available here.
